Nikon D60 Demo Review Tips Tricks

I am looking for any tips/ accessory recommendations anyone might have! I have a UV filter that I use, are there any other things I should be clued in to? Thanks for all your advice!

I agree that you NEED an off camera flash. The SB-600 is what I shoot on my D60, and it’s a great piece of equipment. I’d pair it with a Half Cloud Lightsphere from Gary Fong. This thing throws beautiful light everywhere,

The AF-S 50mm f1.4 will be a great portrait lens on the cropped sensor. I use the 35mm f1.8 and (more often on portraits) the cheap-o AF-S 55-200mm f4-5.6 lens. It actually makes a decent portrait lens,and it is unbelievably sharp for any price.

I hope to have an easy access for the camera, so I could just put it in and out as quick as possible. Not too fuzzy about the price but of course the cheaper the better, thanks.

Perhaps something like the Lite Panels? These were really designed for video cameras, but can work with DSLRs also, but range is no where near as good as with a powerful shoe mount flash such as the Nikon SB900.

and is the D40 better than the D60?

That looks like a good price on a good entry level kit. As to the D40 vs the D60 the D40 give you better tonal range, dyanic range, geometric accuracy and color accuracy with less noise due to larger pixels. The D60 give you some functions the D40 does not and a few more megapixels. Both are good entry level cameras.

Personally I think the D40 2 lens kit is one of the best buys out there for the new photographer today ( my opinion not an established fact) but that does not in any way take away from the D60 which is also a good camera you could be happy with either

i would like to do sports and like nature photography and also portrait like graduation and wedding photography

i would like to know what flash could get that would be wireless on its own tripod with a umbrella that i could shoot remotely with my Nikon d60 ? what accessories would i need to shoot witlessly?

Nikon D60 doesn’t have commander mode built in. To trigger the flash you’ll have to attach a unit to your camera that permits this. Two simple options are – SU-800 (wireless commander) or a SB-800 speedlight which also has a commander mode.

I don’t suggest SB-900 due to its cost.

For the remote flash, you can use any of the flash units featuring a remote function. Cheapest among these is Nikon SB-600.

Once you have a the necessary equipment, just set them to the proper modes, The channel and group should be same (which has to be set on the units).

You can add more flash units on the same channel and group to fire wirelessly.

and another question….you know pictures where there’s nothing but a solid white background or any solid background for photography? what are they called and where could i get them? thank you ^_^
