you got a new d60 for 250$? nice purchase, sure it wasn’t used?

when it comes to the ‘ cheapest ‘ lens possible, get this lens:

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-50mm-Nikkor-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00005LEN4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218842870&sr=8-1

this is a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens, it’s a really nice lens, i’ve gotten some really nice shots from it. It’s a really sharp lens, best for portraiture, because you can really throw the background out of focus. This lens is around one hundred dollars, but it’s not ‘ cheap ‘ in quality.

Unfortunately, the Nikon 50mm 1.8 isn’t an “S” or “I” series optic, so it won’t autofocus on your D60. The least expensive lens for the D60 would be the Nikon 18-55mm zoom.

Here on Ebay, it looks like they’re going for $45-$70.

You may also want to look at your local edition of Craigslist. Here’s a few I found when I entered “Nikon 18-55mm” in the search window for the SF Bay Area.

If you want autofocus, there are many choices, but be sure you’re looking at a S or I series lens. Here’s a more complete list of compatible lenses for you.
